Equilibrated Dentures

These are the more technically advanced dentures.  The difference is in the way the teeth are set into the dentures.  A facebow is used to capture the relative position of the jaws to the head.  Roughly translated this means that the denture teeth will remain in balance regardless of jaw movements.  This indicates smoother excursions or moving the jaw from left to right as well as posteriorly to anteriorly (front to back).

Do I need Equilibrated Dentures?

These dentures are utilized in the following scenarios:

  1. severe shrinkage of jaw bone and tissue
  2. extreme overbite
  3. extreme underbite
  4. a crossbite
